Our Mission

Remember2019 is an effort to make space for the congregation of the Black communities and Black cultural workers of Phillips County, AR. Our work is to support and facilitate local practices of self determination, memory, and reflection, that are directly related to the mass lynching of 1919, the lasting effects of racial terror, and the current and future health of these communities.

Our Vision

Fund Six Residencies for Artists/Cultural Workers in Phillips County between 2018-2023.
We want to fund and support six residencies for artists/cultural workers to make self-determined work around memory, reflection and grieving that is specific to their community’s identity, which encourages social change, exemplifies collaboration, and lifts the visibility of the community.

● In 2018, Carlos Sirah will collaborate with four local musicians to create four distinct pieces that will be performed in venues throughout the county.

● In 2019, Carlos Sirah will collaborate with up to 20 community members throughout the county to create an original play inspired by local stories.

● Each year between 2020 and 2023, one local artist will be an artist-in-residence in Phillips County, creating original works about and for their communities.
